No – it's not just any sheep wool!

 

Merino is considered the finest and softest wool of all sheep. Its most outstanding quality is to keep you warm in cold weather and cool in warm weather while at the same time wicking away moisture from your body. The fibre can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp or clammy. At the same time the fiber's exterior is water repellent – the ideal material for boaters, hunters, athletes, lovers of the great outdoors and, of course, skiers. It literally can be found in any type of sports garment.

 

Apart from moisture absorbent it is luxuriously soft and strong at the same time and keeps its natural elasticity. It also acts as efficient insulator: the fiber has a crimped structure which can "trap" small air pockets that keeps one comfortably warm and dry. It can be worn next to the skin without irritating or feeling itchy or prickly. MountainMasche only uses pure and fine merino wool or blended with silk.
