This hand knit hat/beanie is made from 100% qiviut ("cashmere of the north"). The hat band shows an unusual and attractive cable pattern and the crown is knit in ribs with the occasional cables.
Both stitch types ensure that the hat feels thick and cosy and so makes it ideal for very cold temperatures. Ideal for the those who appreciate highest quality in material and finish!
Qiviut is the Innuit word for the extremely fine underwool or down of the musk ox. These animals are very rare – hence the rather high price of this luxurious, rare and unique yarn. Qiviut is praised as being eight times warmer than wool by weight and softer and finer than cashmere. A garment knit of qiviut is so wonderfully soft, warm and lightweight that one is barely conscious of wearing it.

Hat "Malcolm Island" - Pure Qiviut
Material: 100% qiviut (under down of the musk ox), natural colour, undyed.
Measurements: Length from base to top of crown: 9 1/4" (23.5cm) Width of hat band: 3" (8cm).
Around the head: ladies: 19", men: 21" (48.5 - 53cm) unstretched. The hat band is very elastic and fits many head sizes
Care: Handwash with special wool detergent in luke warm water and lay flat to dry. Qiviut actually becomes softer and warmer the more you handle and wash it. With proper care it will last a long, long time!
